Discovering Yeu Island

6-8 p.m.
A convivial moment at Vent Debout

On the rocky coast of Île d'Yeu, just a stone's throw from Ker Chalon beach, Les Hautes Mers is a poetic marine refuge. This home overlooks the Atlantic and cultivates an island lifestyle of unspoilt nature and marine design.
"A place apart, at the end of the world but close to the heart, where each sunrise over the ocean reinvents luxury in all its simplicity. Between dunes, creeks and iodized scents, the experience becomes sensory, almost suspended to the rhythm of the tides."

An island apart, a waterfront boutique hotel
Just a 30-minute boat ride from Fromentine, Île d'Yeu reveals itself as a preserved enclave steeped in tradition. With its windswept moors, bustling fishing ports and white houses with colorful shutters, it evokes a miniature Brittany, bursting with character. Les Hautes Mers embraces this authenticity, with whitewashed facades, stone walls and an oceanfront swimming pool. Set between sky and sea, this house offers a gentle immersion in a raw environment, with only the changing light and rhythm of the tides to guide you. Here, we slow down and return to what truly matters.

A soft, bohemian marine atmosphere
Conceived as an oceanfront vacation home, Les Hautes Mers is dressed in natural materials, vintage objects and marine evocations. Handcrafted ceramics, hanging ropes, driftwood sculptures, wicker armchairs and Pierre Frey textiles create an elegant & relaxed aesthetic. In the lounges overlooking the azure, Caravane sofas invite you to slow down, read and contemplate. On the walls, a selection of works from the founders' personal collection dialogue with the décor: photographs by Charles Fréger, poetic constructions by Laurent Millet, sculptures by Marie Bathellier... Each room seems to tell a story: that of inner journeys, dreamed horizons, childhood memories.
The spirit of a family home is felt everywhere — a blend of authenticity, art, and gentle refinement.
Les Hautes Mers,
the ocean’s breath
"Few places are as singular — shaped by untamed nature, timeless heritage, and a soul deeply rooted in island life."
Frédéric Biousse & Guillaume Foucher

Sea-view rooms,
Sea breeze softness, serene design
Almost all of the 25 Les Hautes Mers rooms and suites open onto the ocean, with large private terraces inviting you to contemplate the play of light on the Atlantic. Inside, everything evokes discreet refinement: pastel hues inspired by coastal landscapes, sleek light-wood furnishings, natural textiles and carefully selected handcrafted pieces. Soft materials and soothing tones - water green, linen, greyish blue - extend the seaside feel right down to the smallest detail. A luminous, sober atmosphere, where you can make yourself at home, to the rhythm of the island.
In this open-air home, each room becomes a cocoon for resting, reading or simply enjoying the pleasure of doing nothing.

Spa & wellness
Marine ritual facing the ocean
Away from the hustle and bustle, the Spa Alaena of the High Seas offers a sensory interlude in harmony with the surrounding nature.
An indoor swimming pool, bathed in light, extends this invitation to let go, while the treatment rooms open onto the estate's endemic garden, where maritime pines, hydrangeas, and grasses create a living landscape.
Alaena rituals, inspired by the island's elements—wind, water, plants, and light—combine skincare expertise and natural active ingredients to offer a deeply regenerating experience, powered by the soothing energy of the island of Yeu.

Restaurant Vent Debout
Located facing the sea, the Vent Debout restaurant offers a cuisine of the moment, invigorating and local. Chef Lou Marquis works with seafood products as a tribute to the island: Fromentine oysters, wild sea bass and sea bream, clams, seaweed, and salicornia. The joyful and bright dining room is enlivened by a suspended flotilla of boat models, a nod to sailors of yesteryear.
Exploring Yeu Island
By bike, on foot or by boat, the Ile d'Yeu is an open-air experience from Les Hautes Mers. Neolithic dolmens, wild coves, harbor markets or sea outings: every day offers a new perspective, a new rhythm.
Fontenille offers tailor-made getaways, seasonal picnics, yoga sessions facing the ocean or sunset sailboat rides. In this unspoilt natural setting, experiences are savored unfiltered.
To extend your exploration :

- La Plage de la Belle-Maison, on the wild coast, for a swim facing the horizon.
